COTALAND Brings the First Tilt Coaster to the United States!
When they say everything is bigger in Texas, the thrills are no exception. COTALAND is the theme park on the Circuits of America Track, that is also home to a Formula One speedway and a amphitheater for concerts. Located in Austin, Texas, the theme park will have 25 rides, partially opening in 2022. There are plans for five roller coasters that will likely open after the initial park opening, later into 2023. COTA just announced that they’re bringing in a tilt coaster, that will be the first of it’s kind, in the United States.
“It’s a tilt coaster, it’s going to be the first of its kind in America. It does have a sister overseas. It’s just the most neat experience to be dangling facing downward waiting for it to drop," said Matt Hughey, Sr. Manager of COTA Karting and COTALAND. He discussed how foreign ride concepts are not new to COTA as they have been buying rides from Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands to bring some freshness to the US theme park scene. In addition to the tilt coaster, he discussed the previously announced coaster, Palindrome. "We’ve got Palindrome coming this year, it’s the first of its kind as well. It’s a shuttle coaster and you can only ride it here. It’s a shuttle coaster that takes you up 90 degrees and goes over COTA Boulevard," said Hughey. Concept art for Palindrome is pictured below.
We are looking forward to the other announcements and opening of this park that seems like quite the destination. Fasten your seatbelts and start planning trips to Austin!
