Fire at Lost Island Theme Park
The Lost Island Theme Park in Waterloo, Iowa is set to open in late fall or early June 2022. A devestating fire almost threw their plans of opening off but thankfully, the park is set to open on schedule still.
Park owner, Erik Bertch, claims that the damage was minimal but an entire queue building for a water boat attraction and the control panel for the log flume ride have been damaged beyond repair. Crews will begin working on Monday, March 14, 2022, to fix the damage. The fire appears to have started from a blanket left too close to a temporary heater.
The 100 million dollar park sits on 90 acres with five themed lands. It will include three roller coasters-an Intamin accelerator coaster, a Gertslauer Sky Fly, and a Vekoma suspended looping coaster with an extended helix.
While park damages can be rebuilt, lives cannot be replaced. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the fire.
